When Mike Tertsea left Nigeria for the US four years ago to study and play basketball, he probably wasn’t sure when next he’d see his mum.
High school graduation was around the corner, and he was going to be attending alone, with no family around. But his classmates had other plans.
So his classmates decided to raise money to bring his mum from Nigeria to attend his graduation. Then there was a little hitch; all the money the seniors raised wasn’t enough.
But within one hour, the coach and staff joined in and the money was complete. When Mike found out the efforts they had made to bring his mum, he was all…
And finally, mother and child were reuinted again. From Benue to the Abroad.
And no, his mum is not too tiny. He’s just so tall. 6″11 tall.
Mike and his mum got a standing ovation from his classmates and members of staff.
Mike has a basketball scholarship that will take him into the Division 1, and he has committed his future to Rhode Island Rams, the place he lives.
