The story behind Ada and Ugo’s destination wedding in Zanzabibar, Tanzania (First photos)

Ada and Ugo’s love story:

We met at work. We were first friends, because the circumstances at the time did not allow us to be more; in fact I remember saying to my friends that we could never date. Alas, here we are!

Choosing to do life with Ugo was one of my easier decisions, because he’s made it so near perfect. He is very intentional and deliberate about me, us, and making sure we are in a good place. When he asked me to marry him during an intimate dinner on the second day of Christmas last year, I answered without any hesitation. I’m sure he knew I would say yes because we had previously talked about our future, but he was still so nervous and it was the cutest thing!

Selecting the beautiful island of Zanzibar as our location was more about the kind of ceremony we wanted, than it was about having a destination wedding (although my mum says I’d been saying I wanted a destination wedding since I was a child, lol!). We wanted an intimate ceremony and didn’t think we could achieve that here (Lagos) without offending too many people. Ugo was fully sold on the idea, so much so that when somewhere in the middle of planning I wanted to give up on the idea, he insisted on going ahead because it was what I really wanted.

Our families were super supportive throughout the entire process as well. I got married to the man of my dreams, at the ceremony of my dreams. I’m so grateful to God, without whom none of it would have been possible, and super excited to experience the beauty of journeying through life with Ugo.
