And no, Kanayo O. Kanayo has nothing to do with this.
Plateau state government has been issuing salaries to a particular 1,832 teachers, which is just fine.
But you see, none of those individuals exist. The government has been paying ghosts.
But you see, one man whose identity has not been revealed, has been kind enough to be receiving the salaries of all these ghosts.
But you see this man, he doesn’t live in Plateau State, or even work for them. He lives in the USA.
So let’s say he receives an average of 5 thousand naira per individual, that’s a whopping 9.2 million every month.
When this self confessed ghost-worker-salary collector was asked, he said he had been collecting it to donate to widows and orphans.
The governor, Simon Lalong made this known at a media event at the government house in Jos, while marking his one year in office.
One more thing. This number was only discovered among the teaching workforce. Who knows what they’d find when they decide to hit the other ministries?
