The latest evidence of this is the curious case of Ifeoma, in Abuja.
The 21-year-old girl had been dating a certain Customs Officer for three years. It was love made in heaven.
Then things fell apart, and Mr Customs was no longer interested in the relationship —he had found another baby girl to love, cherish and adore.
But Ifeoma just couldn’t live with the thought of her lover being with someone else, so she decided to end it on Saturday, March 26. With insecticide. Down her throat.
But she was found before it got fatal, rushed to the hospital, and her life saved.
But she still couldn’t live with it. The pain the insecticide gave her was nothing compared to the pain she was feeling.
So she tried again, just four days later.
This time, the authorities have stepped in. But nope, Ifeoma is neither going to rehab nor to a psychologist’s office.
She has been arrested and might be going to prison.
Attempted suicide can get you up to one year imprisonment. According to Pulse.ng, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Chief Superintendent Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident and said she’ll be charged to court as soon as she is discharged from the Hospital.
